Context
This governor model appears under the name GovHydroIEEE0 in the Common Information Model for Dynamics - Standard Models (2012) (missing reference) and in the IEC 61970-302:2024 version (Commission, 2024).
Model use, assumptions, validity domain and limitations
IEEE simplified hydro governor-turbine model. Used for mechanical-hydraulic and electrohydraulic turbine governors, with or without steam feedback
Model inputs and output
The input variables are :
Variable | Description | Units |
---|---|---|
omegaPu | measured angular frequency | pu (base omegaNom) |
omegaRefPu | reference angular frequency | pu (base omegaNom) |
PmRefPu | reference mechanical power | pu (base PNomTurb) |
The output signal is PmPu, the mechanical power in pu (base PNomTurb).
Model parameters
Variable | Description | Units |
---|---|---|
K | Governor gain (reciprocal of droop) | pu |
PMaxPu | Maximum mechanical power | pu (base PNomTurb) |
PMinPu | Minimum mechanical power | pu (base PNomTurb) |
t1 | Governor mechanism time constant | s |
t2 | Turbine power time constant | s |
t3 | Turbine exhaust temperature time constant | s |
t4 | Governor lead-lag time constant | s |
